What are some of the causes of your mental health problems? Heredity, Environment, Nurturing, Faith, and Dedication to Good Work Ethics. There you have it in a nutshell if you haven’t noticed from those in life that are succeeding and haven’t allowed it to go to their heads. You have five fingers on one hand and when you tighten them up and close them it becomes a fist right. Use that fist to beat your mental health challenges in life. Capitalize or do a reversal of those five things to make you strong again. Are you depressed? Do you suffer from depression? Then read on. These are just some of the causes of Mental Illness.
So what does that say to me as far as some of the things I should be doing? Be humble, work hard, love at all times even those that are hard to love, thank God for all things and seek his guidance and direction in life through prayer and meditation, be watchful of the friends you keep as the old proverb goes ” bad company corrupts good character “, and seek to be a good example to others. Be the type of person others want to be around and learn from not one they totally are repelled by.
So What does all this have to do with mental health you may ask. Everything. Why do you think we have all the problems. Many in life who are suffering from addictions or schizophrenia for example have never had the good upbringing of a loving family, since many families are just making it. Fake it till you make it as the old saying goes is ok, but if you have believed that everything is Ok in your family when it is not and have not been willing to go for family counselling or individual counselling when the situation warrants it, then you are doomed down the road with demons at our doorstep so to speak. Nurturing by family and friends is so very, very important to be sound mentally and healthy in body, mind and spirit. Good Friends and Good Family is the key to for everything to go good for you later in life when you have to learn to stand on your own two feet.
I am a firm believer in the old saying monkey see monkey do. If a child has come from a dysfunctional family then there is a great probability that this child will live a dysfunctional life. Monkey see Monkey do. So now what? What do I do if I am suffering mentally with mental health issures. Is there a Mental Health Cure you may ask? Well I like to consider myself an optimist instead of a pessimist. Start doing all the things in life you were not taught if you are one of the ones that came from a dysfunctional family. If you never talk things out with family and friends before, try to start doing it. That is after you have found friends who will help you in life instead of hurt you. If you never allowed God into your life, try some Prayer and Meditation for a change. You just might be pleasantly surprised. Prayer and Meditation is the key to opening the door to conscious contact with God.
Even if you are not a believer in God at this point just try. God works through people. Think about the word God for example, G. O. D. ( Good, Orderly, Direction. ) That is why it is so imperative you develop good acquaintances with good family values. To strengthen and guide you in this life when you need it. You have to take the first step to get well. Allowing people into your life that you can trust is a good start. The word Intimacy in the Greek Language actually means, “into me see.” Letting people knowing your deepest darkest secrets and fears in life so that they may help you. And especially don’t forget to pray. God is listening you are just not listening to him. Have you read his word lately ( the Bible ) try it and allow him to speak to you.A good place to start if you have never read the bible before is the Gospel of John. Ask God to reveal himself to you by his written Word.
Last but not least, Are you listening to your friends when they tell you something you should be doing that’s good for you. If not, why not. They are there to help. How else are you going to get better unless you start taking some direction in life from others, whether it be family or friends or counsellors for that matter. You need help so listen, learn and apply what they say.
There is a mass amount of evidence that those who have taught themselves to have a strong faith in God in life fair much better in this world then those that don’t. Not to mention that those who sing in a choir or group have a lower cortisol count ( stress hormone ) than those that don’t. All the evidence for mental health points to people who have lost all hope. In other words, they are lost. Well guess what, Jesus came to seek and save the lost. Why not make him Lord of your Life right now and see just how drastically your life changes. It just may be the best thing you ever did for yourself in your lifetime.
